First Day Hikes – Ring in 2020 By Getting Outdoors!
Looking for a great way to start the new year? Take part in a “First Day Hike” in a local open space on January 1, 2020. Share the day with friends, family and other community members by getting outdoors and experiencing Missouri’s public lands in the beauty of winter.
First Day Hikes take place across the country on New Year’s Day as part of an effort organized by America’s State Parks. You can find a First Day Hike happening near you in a Missouri State Park by looking at the schedule here. You can learn about ways to prepare for hiking in the chilly outdoor weather to maximize your comfort and prioritize your safety from the American Hiking Society here.
Even if you can’t attend a hike organized by Missouri State Parks staff, OSC encourages you to get outdoors in local open space you love! OSC has helped conserve the following public parks and conservation areas, and we hope that you’ll consider visiting one of these for a First Day Hike and throughout the year!
