Volunteers Clean Up Lower Meramec Floodplain
Volunteers braved chilly weather on Saturday, December 8th, to help haul historic trash and debris from the floodplain in Lower Meramec Park. In total, 32 volunteers removed 25 cubic yards of trash, 62.5 tires, and 3,300 lbs of scrap metal. During this special cleanup, volunteers were dispatched to specific sites of debris using GPS coordinates. Volunteers pulled out old carpets, broken furniture, old roofing and an entire port-a-potty!
Thanks to everyone who came out and made a difference in our watershed! Special thanks to Metropolitan Sewer District, St. Louis County Parks, Great Rivers Greenway and Missouri Stream Teams for supporting this event!
