Paddle for a Cause 2018
By Nina Mantegna & Alexandria Moore, OSC summer interns
On June 3rd, 2018, friends of the Open Space Council hit the water to participate in our 5th annual family fun float trip! Paddle for a Cause is an annual fundraising event put on by OSC to allow for community members to enjoy a beautiful day out on the water! We started the day off with a delicious BBQ lunch prepared by volunteers Susan, Dan, and Linda (a big thank you to all our volunteers!) and then started on our way down the river. We had so much fun leisurely floating down the Huzzah and Meramec River and enjoying the beautiful surrounding nature. We loved seeing people of all ages join together to show support for our region’s beloved rivers and raise funds for our upcoming river cleanup event, Operation Clean Stream.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out; we had so much fun floating down the river with y’all! A special thank you to all our sponsors, Ozark Outdoors, REI, Inc. & The P. Wayne & Jane B. Goode Foundation, for making this event possible!
If you missed Paddle for a Cause, you can still support Operation Clean Stream this year! There are plenty more opportunities to get involved with the Open Space Council and enjoy some fun on the river. Sign up for Operation Clean Stream to help us work together to clean up parks and waterways in the Meramec Watershed. This year, Operation Clean Stream will be held on August 25th and 26th. We hope to see you out there – you can register to volunteer here!
