OSC Celebrates National Trails Day
On Saturday, June 3rd, the Open Space Council was accompanied by a great group of volunteers to help clean up Greentree Park and Simpson Lake County Park after recent flooding in Kirkwood. The volunteers were split into three groups, some who collected flood debris from the trails of Greentree Park, and some who took their canoes out onto Simpson Lake to remove debris and litter from the lake. Together, we collected over 40 yards of trash! The event was graciously catered by REI co-op, who also gifted each volunteer a t-shirt. We are very thankful for such dedicated volunteers who have helped make these parks more enjoyable and helped bring the trails and lake back to their natural state, prior to the flooding.
