Young Conservation Area Cleanup Volunteer Opportunity

In March 2020, the Open Space Council helped conserve a 70 acre addition to the Young Conservation Area in LaBarque Creek. To prepare the addition to be open for public use, we need your help to remove trash, debris and tires from the site. We’re looking for volunteers who live near the Young Conservation Area to join us for this cleanup!

The socially-distanced cleanup will be on Saturday, March 27th from 9am – 12pm. Check in and registration is at 8:45am. Volunteers will meet at the Young Conservation Area. Directions to the specific cleanup location within the conservation area will be emailed to registered participants.

Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, and bring a mask and a filled water bottle. Work gloves and tools will be provided.

COVID-19 precautions: Space for this event is limited and registration is required. No walk-ups will be admitted. To ensure the space remains uncrowded, volunteer spots for this cleanup are limited, so secure your spot quickly! Participants will receive their own pair of gloves and tools will be provided by the Open Space Council. All tools and equipment will be sanitized prior to the event. Social distancing must be observed throughout the entire workday and face masks are required.

This cleanup is part of a series of outdoor workdays at the Young Conservation Area organized by the Open Space Council in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation. We hope you will join us for future events to steward this conservation area and improve wildlife and native habitat for generations to come.

Special thanks to the David Risberg Memorial Grant, Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri Stream Teams, and Open Space Council members for supporting this event!
