OSC honored with St. Louis Audubon Conservation Advocate Award

The Open Space Council was honored as a co-recipient of the St. Louis Audubon’s 2019 Outstanding Conservation Advocate award. The award was given to the Yes for Our Parks Campaign Committee, of which the Open Space Council was a key leader. Current OSC Board President Scott Emmelkamp and Former OSC Executive Director Katherine Dockery attended the Fall Gaggle on October 27th to receive the award on OSC’s behalf.

St. Louis Audubon Society’s described the Committee’s efforts in their Tale Feathers newsletter: “Outstanding Conservation Advocate – Yes for Our Parks Campaign Committee Nearly 80% of St. Louis County voters in November 2018 supported a charter amendment that requires county residents be asked to approve the sale, disposal or significant alteration (for non-recreation purposes) of county park properties. The Campaign Committee included the Sierra Club, Open Space Council, Missouri Coalition for the Environment, St. Louis County Parks Foundation, and the St. Louis Audubon Society.”
